Do you have the Rodney Christmas show where he played the Dennis Wilson track Holy Holy? I loaned him the cassette of that song and he never returned it.
No, I'm sorry holycownyc I don't have that show. If you ever run across a copy of it please let us know. If anyone has any shows to share please drop us a line. We would love to hear them.
Thanks
I would say this tape was recorded in August 1980 because it features "back-to-school sale" commercials.
There is also an advert for Ultravox's then-new "Vienna" LP which, according to Wikipedia, was released July 11, 1980.
Also, "Devo Live" was filmed at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA, on August 17, 1980. Obviously they were touring in California at that time.
The non-Rodney/Siouxsie side of this tape was recorded the day after a certain Devo concert which was attended apparently by several members of the KROQ staff. If anyone can pinpoint the date of that concert, you'll have the exact recording date of at least 1/2 of this tape.
Myke
Rodney mentions during his Saturday 8/23/1980 show that the Devo concert was that night and that Jed The Fish and Freddie Snakeskin were there.
This, therefore, confirms the recording date of this tape as 8/24/1980 (before 8pm) because they talk about being at the Devo concert the night before.
I assume that the Rodney/Siouxsie show is also from 8/24/1980 (after 8pm).
How 'bout that?
While the first 1/2 of this tape appears to be recorded 8/24/1980, the Rodney/Siouxsie 1/2 probably wasn't - since Rodney's entire 8/24/1980 show celebrated his 4th anniversary.
Thank you so much for these Rodney on the ROQ tapes. I've been listening to them all and discovering some great songs I never heard in the process. The link to this Siouxsie tape doesn't work, though. Any way you could possibly reupload it? Thanks!
Arrghh, That sucks!
Megaupload says the file has been deleted.
Reasons for this may include:
- Invalid link (not!)
- The file has been deleted because it was violating our Terms of service.
Well, I'm not going to get into a legal pissing contest with whoever that asshole was.
Sorry
I am a little late to this party, but wow! Thanks for all your efforts in posting these Rodney Shows. Great stuff. Most of my recordings of his shows are from when I was 14/15, in 1980/1981. Unfortunately I would edit them down to the songs and interviews I liked to conserve that precious tape, which was a stockpile of cheap quality recorded sermons we found in a church dumpster. What did I know? It's great now to hear all the intros and commercials. I must really thank Rodney for turning me onto great music at a young age. Everything from Eddie & the Subtitles to the Ventures to Love. I actually recently made a nusance of myself at Canters. He was behind me at the register and I thanked him for the years of great tunes he's shared and asked him autograph a post card. Total fan man moment... oh well.
Also, I have an old tape that says this deleted Siouxie interview was from Sept. 1980 for whatever that's worth. This was a tape I got off someone else, so I do not know how accurate it is.

Is there any way to get a copy of this show anymore? Could I persuade you with full track lists for all the Rodney shows you guys have posted (or at least almost all of them - I have 2 to go)?
I'm sorry Jon but someone had the file deleted for whatever reason.
