You're welcome. I have been recording radio tapes of my own local fave stations since 1979 and understand the frustration of not knowing an exact recording date. :)

It's challenging and fun to try and pinpoint a recording date based upon the songs played, contents of commercials, comments by DJs and even weather reports which can help to reveal what day of the week it was.

Funny thing is... I cannot right now remember the clues I used to pinpoint date for this one (10/6/1990) but whatever they were, this was the only date which fits.

I'll scan over it again and post the clues just for the sake of satisfying my own curiosity. It's starting to drive me nuts! :)

We know this tape was recorded on a Saturday as there are commercials by Poorman about "senseless destruction on stage ... Tonight!" at Fashions where every Saturday night is "KROQ Night".

There is also mention of a Wonderstuff concert happening Friday, October 19, so we know the tape was recorded on either 10/6 or 10/13.

Within the first couple of minutes of the tape is a grand opening day commercial for "Marbles" saying "it's gonna be happening on Saturday, October 13".

It seems doubtful to me that they would still be airing a "grand opening day" ad on 10/13 with words that imply 10/13 is still several days away.

That's why I say this tape was recorded on 10/6/1990. :)

The date is definitely 10-13-90. The Concert Calender on side 2 gives the best clue listing a bunch of shows happening that same day. Social D. played at UC Irvine that night; and on-line there's a Times review of the show from the following Monday. Sluggo is still great! -SL

My favorites on this tape were the phone ins. I've always hoped someone would drop a line to the blog saying hey that was me calling in that night. Where are those people today?
